Field Position Descriptions:

Superintendent
Responsible for directing the activities of construction workers and for supervising construction projects on a daily basis. Duties may include: assigning work to and monitoring crews; working alongside crew members when needed; scheduling; inspecting; training and advising; evaluating employee performance; resolving issues with subcontractors, employees and customers; and ensuring jobsites are OSHA-compliant.

Skilled Construction Worker
Responsible for performing a wide variety of skilled construction activities in the areas of carpentry, concrete and structural steel erection. Duties may include: constructing, erecting, installing, and repairing structures and fixtures using hand tools and power tools; smoothing and finishing surfaces of poured concrete; and raising, placing and uniting structural steel members.

Construction Worker
Responsible for performing a wide variety of construction activites requiring varied experience and skill in one trade area, the dexterous use of hands and tools, and the ability to work without supervision. Duties may include: measuring; leveling; finishing freshly poured concrete; erecting scaffolding, shoring, and braces; applying caulk and waterproofing; grinding, sanding, or polishing surfaces; welding; installing machinery and equipment; demolishing buildings; sawing lumber; dismantling forms; and installing insulation.

Laborer
Responsible for performing a wide variety of construction activities requiring little or no experience or independent judgment. Duties may include: digging, spreading and leveling materials; lifting, carrying, and holding building materials, tools, and supplies; cleaning; mixing, pouring, and spreading materials; pipe work; performing a variety of routine, non-machine tasks, such as removing forms; caulking; painting; operating light equipment and vehicles; maintaining vehicles and equipment; receiving and tracking material, tools, equipment and supplies.
